A.
Background
Facing the worlds
number one issue of the century, “…Climate Change and Global
Warming…”. The Department Of Foreign Affairs of the Republic
Of Indonesia in cooperation with Tunas Hijau – Kids & Young
People Do Action For A Better Earth – are organizing the
Asia Pacific Inter Faith Youth Camp 2008 (APIFYC 2008). The
motto for the youth camp is “We care for the WORLD”. In this
event, various environmental themes will be addressed.
APIFYC 2008 will
be carried out in Surabaya on 27-31 Juli 2008. About 100
youths from participant’s countries of Asia Pacific Regional
Inter Faith Dialogue will gather in Surabaya to share their
ideas and experiences to cope with climate change.
B. Goals
Of The Youth Camp
·
To achieve
a mutual friendship, cooperation and understanding among
interfaith youths of Asia Pacific.
·
To provide
youth with opportunities to express their collective
opinions and concerns on environment.
·
To attract
new ideas and initiative from young generation on how to
cope with climate change.

C. Activities
APIFYC 2008 motto
is “We care for the WORLD”. Participants will be divided
into several small groups, which will do workshops,
fieldtrips and discussions on different themes.
The themes are:
Waste, Water, Forest and its Resources, River and Ocean,
energy and Life Style.

Thursday 31
July (Day Four)
Morning:
Sayonara
D. Venue
APIFYC 2008 will
take place at the Cyber Park Bratang Surabaya a 5 hectare
beautiful park situated about 6 km from the City center of
Surabaya. This park is intended not purely as a park but
also as a Cyber Park Bratang, where hotspot and internet
access are available for free. The park was opened on 10
August 2007. Sites surrounding the park are Surabaya Zoo,
Kenjeran Beach, Bungkul Park, Friendship Park and Kalimas
Park.
E. Accommodation
For the first two days of the event, all participants will
spend their night with the selected families in Surabaya.
While, on the third night the participants will spend it
with the selected families in forest area in Pacet,
Mojokerto. And on the fourth night the participants will
stay together in Cyber Park Bratang Surabaya in tents.
Through this ‘Home Stay’ participants and chaperones
will experience first hand that the families with different
religious in Surabaya can live harmoniously. Participants
will learn the culture of Indonesia as well, especially
Eastern Javanese Culture.

F. Terms And Conditions
-
All
participants should be on the age of 18-21 years on 27 July
2008
- All
participants should be nominated by the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of the participants countries of the Asia Pacific
Regional Inter Faith Dialogue through Indonesian Embassy in
each country.
-
Each
country is entitled to send 5 participants
-
All
participants are expected to have a high interest on
environmental issues and actively involved in environmental
projects.
- The
Government of the Republic of Indonesia will bear the
expenses of local transportation, meals and accommodation
during the programme
